They just have to get past Spain this year I dont think Greece will be able to beat them. China is decent but not good enough..

Spain, Argentina and Lithuania are for me the ones that on the paper could dissapoint the US. Or maybe is the other way around?
China is not even close to be a contender for a medal. I don't even think they will reach the 1/4 finals

Now that Kaman is playing for Germany they are a little better... I dont think it's too much of an impact though. Any thoughts?

Good frontcourt with these two plus Jagla. Nothing special in the backcourt. If Kaman plays the Olympics qualifying they have some chances to be in Beijing, but they still shouldn't be a team to be afraid of.

First, USA did NOT dominate 2000, they were almost beaten by Lithuania, a two point win isn't domination. The gold belongs in Europe, hopefully. The only country outside of Europe I wouldn't mind winning is Argentina. No Asian country will be a threat, including russia. China is nothing, they will need to work miracles to win at least 2 games. Just about every Athens qualifier is better than them.

USA is now mentally prepared for the olympics more then they ever have been. I see domination in todays standards beating teams by 15-20 points.

Yeah, I didn't really think or Coach K as a great coach before this but it proves he does know how to get his players going.

Does it matter? Melo has the size to start at PF in any league or competition. If we figure in his skill he's more than qualified. They did this on purpose. Melo has always done well at this position in the international game. If you want to point out a weakness in position for the US it has to be center.

Great post. We appreciate the info. I respect all of those teams but I think that was pretty much expected.
