Default The ISH double standard with Melo & Cp3

Melo is constantly roasted on ISH, talked about as if he's a scrub.. laughed off for "accomplishing nothing" significant in his career.. has played with 0 help for the past 5 years.. has advanced further in the playoffs than Paul in his career..

    meanwhile

Chris Paul is lauded by many as an ATG player, talked about right alongside other ATG at his position, get every excuse in the book for why he has yet to accomplish anything.. has played with an MVP candidate for the past 2 years and a good team for the past 5... has never advanced as far as Melo in the playoffs

pretty hilarious how differently these two star players are perceived on ISH.. Melo constantly laughed at for his lack of playoff success while Paul's shortcoming are almost always excused..

    The difference:

CP3 had an oppurtunity to join a contender(or we thought so) in the Clippers...and he seized that oppurtunity with both hands.

Melo had an oppurtunity to join two contenders( Rockets & Bulls)....but he's happy being LaLa's b***h...and decided to stay.

And in terms of playing style...come on,CP3 is elite...multiple times assists leader, steals champion, career double-double...

What has Melo done?...one scoring title?...and that was only when KD was sitting out 4th quarters and statpadding for a 50/40/90 shooting.

CP gets hated on all the time on this site. You can't even have a discussion in any form about CP without people bringing up his playoff record. You just ignore the hate he gets and focus on the small amount of praise people give him because you're a hater.

He has no supporters on here, the people you see arguing for him are mostly just logical basketball fans.

People just hate NYC and the Knicks in general. Melo didn't ring chase and apparently that means he doesn't want to win

It might have something to do with Melo's horrid play in the playoffs. Ever think of that?

Melo drops to a 51% TS scorer in the playoffs. He's a net negative defender and a black hole offensively that doesn't make players better around him.

Chris Paul is just a better player. And I do think Paul gets a bit over-rated here at times...

But acting like it's a double standard to take Paul? Just no. Paul plays better in the playoffs, is a far better defensive player, and actually can help his teammates play better.

This. OP is one of the biggest CP3 roasters on here...

And like it was already mentioned, Paul is a better player than Melo and he has higher standards because of it, along with playing in a tougher conference his whole career.

Carmelo is a better player than Paul. Has been their entire careers.

What? Paul is regularly attacked for his lack of postseason success, failure to advance to the CFs, choking, etc.

    Paul > Melo though.

my criticism with CP3, is probably him lacking the game in playing the SG up to this point.

which on this subject, just wanted to note that for all the criticism Harden gets for being the best SG in an era that is weak on SG. Him, unlike Kobe who can play the 3, and being more similar to Wade, doesn't get run over by the elite PG. which also explains why Fisher/Kobe + Elite big man works, because of the ability to insert athletic 2 with Fisher and elite Big to still be somewhat productive for stretches.

and that of Melo, would be him not being the wise veteran on taking the offensive plays off and be a defensive stopper to wear his opponent down, not just physically, but mentally as well. because he gives it all every play on the offensive end it seems.

this could get into the whole players losing weight or not as they age, but to me, if a player can play that many minute a game, he just needs to be more disciplined. because of the salary they command. After all, even while bigs are rare to come by, and teams CAN go the offensive/defensive substitution plays. You can be mentally tough in your will to perform, or mentally tough by your ill desire to conquer.

Has Paul ever had as good of playoff a run as Melo had in 09?

in 09 Melo absolutly wiped the floor with Pauls team.. including the most embarrassing loss in NBA playoff history when the Nuggets beat the Hornets by 60 points on Cp3s home floor.. Melo led his team over Cp3's team in the playoffs.. and outplayed him while doing so..

Melo led the Nuggets in that series with 24/6/5/2/1 on 47% including 34 points in the close out game.. while Cp3 continued to shit the bed in games 4 and 5..

2nd round.. Nuggets face the Mavs (09 Dirk probably the most athletic version of Dirk, at the peak of his skills)

Melo leads his team over Dirk's team in 5 games posting 30/7/3/2/1 on 49%.. 61% TS..

i'll just stop there since Paul has never gone accomplished this much (advanced past 2 rounds)

in the WCF Melo put up 28/5/4 on 55% TS and lost to the Lakers..

Paul has never put together a playoff run as good as that.. has he..?
