The one year he led his team to the NBA Finals he averaged 20\5\2 and he only started 8 out of the 20 playoff games.
He made the playoffs 5 times in his career, and the only other memorable post-season he had was the 2004 with Minny where he averaged 19\4\4 and was a 2nd option for KG. Thats superstar numbers?
Regular season he topped 20 PPG 4 times. One season where he averaged 24\6\5 in a high paced Warriors team, where you could argue he was borderline. Other than that a bunch of 16-20PPG seasons on average teams. Dudes a career 42.5% FG and 33% 3PT shooter which are both mediocre. He was never a great defender either.
He made 1 All NBA team and 1 All Defensive team his entire career.
He was never a superstar, not even close.

Maybe you're right, and I'm probably a bit biased too as he was one of my favorites growing up.
I do remember a young Sprewell being the 2nd best 2-guard in the league for a stretch though, and arguably #1 the season MJ took a vacation.

Reggie wasn't a superstar. He was a 3pt specialist who probably exaggerated contact the most in NBA history trying to get a call.

Dantley is a good one because The Pistons were right on the cusp and won right after with Aguire doing very similar things. Although you could make the case the change in personality, and the willingness Aguire had to let Isiah and Dumars do more, may have been the tipping point.
He didn't have much run, but Ralph Sampson is maybe a possibility. Those Rockets teams were good.

Dwight was a superstar. Houston and Spree were not.
Did Grant Hill ever play in the finals?
