    4 2002 Sacramento Kings

    vs.

    13 2005 Houston Rockets

Preview: The 2002 Sacramento Kings went 61-21 in the regular season and lost in Game 7 to the eventual champion LA Lakers in one of the most controversial series ever. Many still feel this was the best team in the league in 2002 and deserve to have a championship. Nonetheless here they are again alive in this tournament with a shot to redeem themselves and make a statement of how good they were.

The 2005 Houston Rockets went 51-31 and had the all-star duo of McGrady-Ming. They lost McGrady in the playoffs thus did not get past the 1st round in a series that was also very controversial, but he will be healthy here in the tournament. Yao Ming was still getting better but McGrady was already as good as they got. Besides for McGrady and Ming this team did not have much more to offer so both McGrady and Ming will need performances for this team to win some series.

The Kings believe they should have gotten a 1 or 2 seed and now have something to prove. Their path to retribution starts with Houston, where they will have to stop McGrady and Ming to win this matchup. The Rockets also felt they should have gone further than they did and will have to upset the Kings to move further now. How well Doug Christie can guard McGrady will be key in this series.

Yeah, the deep teams are kind of a pain in the ass. That's why I only do a few players off-and-on when I have some free time.

I don't see why people are so critical of McGrady, it was 4 games and Peja had just as bad of a shooting series. There are other McGrady teams lets see if he can make it up

    5 2003 Dallas Mavericks

    vs.

    12 2004 New Jersey Nets

Preview: The 2003 Dallas Mavericks went 60-22 in the regular season before losing to the eventual champion Spurs in the WCF. This was probably the best Nash-Dirk era Maverick team. Besides for Nash/Dirk, they also had prime Michael Finley giving them an effective Big 3. This team

    Game 1: Nets 127, at Mavericks 116

    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Kidd 28pts/15ast/8reb

Recap: The Mavericks were absolutely terrible on defense Game 1 allowing the Nets to score like it was nothing. 4 Net players had over 20 points while altogether they shot 58% from the field and turned it over just 8 times. Jason Kidd led the charge with a huge performance, Kittles, Jefferson, and K-Mart also had over 20 points. The Mavericks played great offense too especially from Nash-Van Exel, but the Nets were at least able to limit Dirk holding him to just 16 points.

Game 2: at Mavericks 111, Nets 107 (OT)

    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: S.Nash 26pts/12ast on 10/18 FG

Recap: Both teams played much better defense here in Game 2 with Dallas coming up on top at the end. This game also came down to the 4th quarter, the Mavericks led 79-70 entering the 4th but that deficit was easily cut allowing us to see a thrilling finish. K-Mart hit a shot with 4 seconds left to send it to OT, where big 3s by Bell and Dirk in the clutch gave the Mavericks a must-win game 2.

    Game 3: Mavericks 115, at Nets 89
    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Nowitzki 29pts/10reb on 11/21 FGs

Recap: After a close up and down 1st half the game was tied at 57-57. But in the 2nd half the Nets just could not keep up with Dallas

The west continues to dominate the east in this tournament. I would've expected that.

    6 2004 Minnesota Timberwolves

    vs.

    11 2009 San Antonio Spurs

Preview: The 2004 Minnesota Timberwolves went 58-24 in the regular season before losing to the Lakers in the WCF. They were led by MVP Kevin Garnett. He was at his best, and this was the most talented roster he played with in Minnesota. Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell both were healthy and had good seasons giving them an effective Big 3 with big KG in the middle.

The 2009 San Antonio Spurs went 54-28 before losing in the 1st round for the 1st time in Duncan
