The general consensus: LeBron is already ahead of Kobe
On the GOAT rankings
It's pretty much general consensus now... Most of the respectable NBA media outlets agree.. It's commonplace that Kobe is around that 8-15 all time ranking while LeBron is around the 5-10 all time ranking. I made a thread about this a few months ago. It's already the common knowledge on the street from any reasonable educated NBA fan.

This thread will amazingly go several pages long with the same arguments that have been said literally thousands of times repeated again

Re: The general consensus: LeBron is already ahead of Kobe
Depending on how the rankings go
Kobe is in the Hakeem/Dr J/Dirk/KG/Moses group
While LeBron is in the Shaq/Duncan/Bird group

Re: The general consensus: LeBron is already ahead of Kobe
People who analyze basketball for a living or as a real hobby just about all agree.
People who stan, and paint their face, and cheer, and take pics with carls jr laker girls dont.
You decide whom to believe...

As some of you may have heard I am a Big Time Pacers fan but I am also a fan of the Cavaliers as well. Kobe and LeBron has been a debate going on for over a decade in the Basketball Community. LeBron has great statistics, especially in the regular season. The thing that LeBron lacks however is Hardware. Kobe has over twice as much Hardware as LeBron. LeBron James has had too many flame outs in the playoffs to surpass Kobe Bryant's legacy as of now. They are very close but unless LeBron can win at least one more Championship and put up great stats Kobe is going to be higher on the All Time Rankings.

LeBron is probably better, but just barely and there is an argument either direction.
There are legit arguments for Kobe being in the 8-12 range. LeBron is in the 7-11 range.

That is not the general consensus.
If you take eson out of the consensus you have more people ranking Kobe ahead of lebron. Only thing lebron has over Kobe is regular season mvps.

I don't really care who people rank higher, but "only has more regular seasons mvps"... Is that supposed to be some small accomplishment?
MVP means you were the peak of player performance for a whole year... That is a pretty big deal. You were the most consistent, you led your team to a high level of play, and you were the most consistent performer over the course of a whole season.
Regular season MVP's are a big deal. All the truly great players have a bunch of them. Look at the names that most commonly appear in the top 5. Jordan, Kareem, Wilt, Magic and Bird... They average like 4 MVP's per career between them.
