Spurs need to go 7-2 to have their best season ever.
Tough stretch coming up. I would say don't count on it because we will rest our starters near the end of the season, but we've pretty much been doing that anyway during this 17-game wining streak.
BTW, 7-2 means we go 64-18, so even the 65-win season isn't out of reach.

But while having Marco, Mills and the other snipers off the bench is nice, this team needs a top form Parker to win a title. He's looked so awful lately even after that break, that I'd consider shutting him down for the season until the playoffs, or just 10 minutes every now and then to stay loose. He's coasting, but he's also looked really bad. Figure it out, TP.

Although 64W would be the record for the Spurs history, I wouldn't say 2013-14 season or 2005-06 season is their best season.
It would be 2004-05 or 2006-07 season.
I know these are title seasons, but I'm not talking about playoff success either. Some advanced stats such as Off Rtg - Def Rtg rank and differences, SRS, and Expected W-L record.
Also there is margin of victory, which is not a advanced stat. Despite winning 9 less games than the Mavs in 2006-07, the Spurs outscored their opponents by 8.43 points which was season and franchise best.

OKC is one loss for em.
Who will be the other two?

Don't the Spurs usually do better in the playoffs when they're the number 2 seed with 56 to 60 games won? From memory....

Possible but I doubt it considering they've got Houston, OKC, Indiana and Golden State. I'm pretty sure they have a losing record against Houston and OKC but I could be wrong.

'99 - 1st seed
'03 - 1st seed
'05 - 2nd seed
'07 - 3rd seed
The team with homecourt only wins the Conference Finals about 50% of the time in the past ten years so it probably doesn't matter if they have 1st seed or 2nd seed. Considering the advantage OKC would have with officiating, it would't hurt to have homecourt in a hypothetical matchup with 'em.

Re: Spurs need to go 7-2 to have their best season ever.
From a personnel standpoint OKC should absolutely shit on the Spurs.
If OKC just gives these guys each 40 minutes per game they shouldn't have too many problems:
Russell Westbrook
Reggie Jackson (AKA Spurs Killer)
Kevin Durant
Serge Ibaka
Then again, hard not to be worried in a matchup of Gregg Popovich vs Scott Brooks.

OKC's biggest advantage is the officials.

Game. Set. Match.
Re: Spurs need to go 7-2 to have their best season ever.
Honestly I've never liked the Spurs but my respect for Duncan and Popovich is immense.

Re: Spurs need to go 7-2 to have their best season ever.
FYI, Reggie Jackson's three games vs the Spurs so far this season:
23/4/2, 71% shooting, W
21/4/3, 57% shooting, W
27/8/2, 71% shooting, W
Spurs are so ****ed in the WCF. Scott Brooks better not **** this up.

Duncan sprained his ankle in March of 05 and Spurs struggled to win games without him (though Horry came up big for them during that stretch iirc) so the lesser record is warranted. Don't know - for all the offensive prowess of this year's team (Belli and Mills really have been special this year) - those championship teams could get STOPS when needed. I just question when superstars like Lebron/Wade play 40+mins in the playoffs, will this free-flowing offense work? It didn't last year.
