Default Lowering the Rim Heights

I'm sure this is not an original idea. But why not lower the height of the rim for women's basketball? I think it would help make the game more exciting.

I don't know where u live but if something like this happened it could be viewed as "sexist"

I don't necessarily agree or disagree but from the feminists I've spoken to they want women to be treated as equals to men. And lowering the rim could be interpretated as demeaning or that women are not as strong or as skilled to be able to play on the same court dimensions as men.

With that said, it would make sense to lower rims because the height on average in WNBA is smaller than that of the NBA players'.

Conversely they should raise rims in the NBA....

American living in Korea. I don't find it sexist at all. Like you said, it has to do with height. When I was a teen, we had an adjustable rim and it was fun to play at 9 feet from time to time because we could dunk on it. Sure, some WNBA players can dunk at 10, but imagine how much more awesome the dunks would be at 9 feet!

Statistically women are shorter than men and have smaller verticals, so I don't see how it would be sexist to configure the court for their specifications.

Having equal rights doesn't mean we have to pretend there aren't biological differences between the sexes. I don't care either way, but if it happened I wouldn't say it is necessarily sexist.

It probably shouldn't be a mans decision though. It should be up to the players, and I doubt they would want to change it.

i would say 9.5 ft would be alright but would it be a disadvantage to all the girls who grew up shooting at 10 ft hoops? or would their shooting ability carryover, i think there should be a poll for this.
