Celtics are in a tough situation, no pieces to move, over the cap, too much salary committed to declining players, no big men, a warehouse of under performing guards and swingmen, a few good young players, but no one who shows all star kind of potential, and you aren't going to trade them for a superstar. Rondo is a wonderful point, but I don't think you can win a championship with him as your best player. He needs someone to feed. Plus, I think he plays better when he wants to prove that he's the best player on his team.
And with all this, the team is not bad enough to get a decent pick. It's going to be 7th and 8th seeds for a long time coming if they don't shake things up, or clear out some salary to sign a great talent.
They have a PG who wants to run, but nobody to run with. They're a half-court defensive team who simply isn't very good at defense anymore.
That's the big question. They don't even know. And even if they iron out their identity, I'm nearly positive they aren't good enough to make it matter.
