Somewhere deep down the league knows commercial success in womens athletics rests on good looking players. Clark obviously isnt a 10/10 stunner, but for a "face of the brand" she's a step in that direction.

The problem is, the league can never explicitly emphasize that as its direction. They cant just sign the chicks people think are cute without prioritizing basketball talent. If they did, the league would factually, indisputably be more successful. But they cant.

The WNBA (which is owned by the NBA) has made its bed as a politically 'progressive' institution. So they're gonna be stuck subsidizing an unprofitable league. The public does not respond to masculine chicks with prison tats when it comes to entertainment. It's a stone cold fact and it's not changing.

The problem is that I have yet to see a woman with an elite, sick "bag"... There's no kyrie's or hakeem's.

The best players can mimic a few moves but they lack some of the best footwork, carrying and traveling that make the NBA a better viewing for most fans.

Those chicks are like 6'5 and dont shoot threes. That may make them stars within the world of women's basketball, but it doesnt create a buzz outside of it.

Clark is seen as a somewhat feminine, decent looking female who's hooping. That's why people watch. The WNBA and the politically correct crowd can deny it all they want, but a huge PART of the reason she gets eyeballs is she's a low key sex symbol. Not by comparison to typical hollywood starlets, but by comparison to the other female stars of professional basketball. She's cute and she shoots threes. That's a novelty in women's basketball. Most of the players are tall, dark, and stiff. Clark isnt. That's why the general public watches her. It's a fact, however uncomfortable.

If she was black, the media and the public would not respond to her as a sex symbol. Hollywood, the corporate media, and the average viewer consistently tell black women in entertainment "thanks but no thanks."

She's relateable.

Cute-ish and with a personality white people appreciate.

White people have preferences and culture, it's not exactly rocket science.

Never watched a WNBA or women’s college game, and never will.

Unless they change uniforms to Volleyball style uniforms. And all the players are AT LEAST as pretty as Satou Sabally, Cameron Brink, Candace Parker, etc.

Ideally, if they had ten Skylar Diggins out there, on a 72ft court, with 9ft rims, it might be watchable.

This is all on point, except for Clark’s in any way being a moderately attractive face of the league. Her facial form is too much like a middle school boy.

And the bottom line, is … it’s a VASTLY INFERIOR PRODUCT. The only time people will come and watch an inferior product, is when their kids, relatives, classmates are participating in the competition. And even then, admission is less than $7 lol

WNBA is very similar, qualitatively, to 6th or 7th grade boys (depending on which community since equatorial descendants mature sooner) basketball, but with way more cringe turnovers and missed shots, and less coordination.
