bruce brown substituted for gordon negates this strategy. having no non shooter in the lineup gobert can play off of. He's sorely missed but that's what we're going get with new cba flawed teams who cant pay everyone. wolves will lose their bench in a year or two too with how much they're paying their starters

Gobert doesnt have to match up against a non shooter because he can guard the perimeter and unlike the jazz he has help at the rim if he has to

You didn’t watch the video. It’s about gobert being the help so kat doesn’t have to pay attention to Jamal at all. No one else is contesting Jamal at rim well

I feel more comfortable with Gordon posting up Gobert than Jokic posting up KAT. defensively, I'd also force KAT to be in a PnR situation with Gobert, and force Gobert to be the passer hitting the open shooters, instead of Conley/Ant.

Except it's not about Gordon per-se. Whatever strategies the Nuggets have are thwarted by individual and team defense. The Nuggets are used to things like 2-man game with Jokic and Murray or Jokic and Gordon; or swinging the ball every which way. They're not able to do that without people in the way.

In general though I do agree that 3 point shooting is one way to weaken Minn's defense; they excel in guarding the paint but you can't guard everything. The problem when teams go small against Wolves is they are a huge team with KAT, Gobert and McDaniels who's a 6'9" SF. Then you've got Edwards who's a 225 lb SG. If you maximize shooting at the expense of size, you can forget boards, put backs, and then getting muscled on the Wolves offense.

The Celtics are a team which combines shooting prowess and physicality and pose the best matchup to the Wolves; they played 2 games this year and both went to overtime. I don't count the Nuggets out just because of their personnel and they have a smart coach who will adjust, but it will be tough.

well it kind of is gordon. he's their non shooter. yea you sacrifice size with bruce brown but this is also where having jokic helps. He's an all time defensive rebounder. They often went with brown over mpj last year's playoffs for defense. That wouldve been a nice luxury to have brown over gordon for shooting this year. You cant love putting gobert on bruce brown with his shooting and ability to run the pnr lets be honest and now the options are slim for gobert. Likely help off kcp still a 40% 3pt shooter. defense okay you sacrifice size and have to put jokic on kat most likely. murray on conley brown/kcp on ant the other guy on mcdaniels works fine. Mcdaniels isnt nearly good enough rn to exploit mismatches though hes been better recently

if Gobert had the ability to be a 1 on 1 lock down defender, they wouldn't need to hide him as a help defender. the reality is, he just doesn't draw enough attention on the offensive end.
