2018 Warriors. I kinda think the 2016 team looked more unstoppable but well, we know how that panned out in the end. Just couldn't get that ultimate season ending so I'm going with 2018.

I'm torn between the 1987 Lakers and 2018 Warriors, but I'm going to go with the 2018 Warriors.

I don't think we should have more than one team from the same dynasty. There is little or nothing to distinguish those teams from year to year in many cases. Thus I won't vote for the 2018 Warriors, 1997 Bulls, 1984 Celtics etc. because those teams are already represented as far as I'm concerned. Maybe 2016 Warriors are an exception because without KD it's technically a different team... but they didn't even win the title. How can they be top 10 of all time over dominant historical teams that had slightly worse regular seasons but won titles?

I vote for the 1971 Bucks. Won 66 games but went 1-5 in the last six games cruising then steamrolled through the playoffs. They have the highest SRS in history. Sure they dodged the Knicks and West was injured for the Lakers but it was a beatdown. They won in blowouts practically every game. And if they were healthy in 1972 they probably win back to back.

Also weird that Russell's Celtics are missing from the list of candidates...

Teams can change a great deal year-to-year.

Teams can also be continually great so why exclude them if they can pull it off? It's very rare and worth rewarding.

The 60s Celtics can be included for sure, although I highly doubt anyone will vote for them.

I have to go with the 87 Lakers here. Magic said the 87 Lakers were the best team he played on = he said they had everything. They had an easy path to the Finals but lets give credit to the talent they had!

The 1986-1987 Lakers beat the 37-45 Nuggets in the first round, 42-40 Warriors in the second round, and the 39-43 Sonics in the WCF.

Before beating a severely crippled Celtics team in the finals that had fought through a young Michael Jordan and the Bulls in the first round, survived a seven-game thriller with the Bucks, and then persevered against the Bad Boy Pistons in a seven-game slugfest just to reach the Finals.

It is arguable that the Celtics played a better team in Jordan’s 40-42 Chicago club in the first round of the Eastern playoffs than LA did in any of its three rounds out west.

Certainly, Milwaukee (50-32) and Detroit (52-30) were far better than any team LA faced, and were even better than their records.

All told, the three Western clubs LA crushed were a combined 10 games under .500 in a weaker conference, which means their poor record was also padded by playing two-thirds of its slate against teams in its own weaker conference.

When you look at how weak their playoff run was that year is that really top 5 worthy.

And in the second half of Game 4 at Boston, the Celtics held a 16-point lead.

But fatigue, a blatantly missed goaltending call, a missed jump ball, a missed out of bounds kick by Cooper, a missed FT knocked out of bounds by Thompson instead of McHale, and two missed travel calls all combined to rob the Celtics of a 2-2 tie in a one-point loss.

Had any one of those wrong calls been corrected, Boston likely wins.

Correct most or all and they win clearly and then after taking a 3-2 lead, possibly pull off the guttiest title ever.

All the pressure would have been on LA to win the last two games against a crippled, tired team.

I'm sure what they did as a team throughout the 80's proves they were great.

Sure they were an all time great team but they got to beat up on weak teams in their conference which helped them a ton in the finals as they were far more rested than their finals opponents.

    Like for example in 1987

Bird gutted through 44 minutes a game, playing 14 brutal playoff contests vs. Milwaukee and Detroit over 27 days in one of the hotter springs of that time.

DJ, nearing 33, also played 964 minutes (41.9 per) and McHale averaged 39.4 minutes a game on two bad feet.

LA on the other hand had an easy road to the Finals against three teams with a combined record of 10 games under .500.

Yet with no injuries and plenty of rest - Johnson played 666 minutes and Worthy played 681 (Jabbar, 559) those playoffs, at a much less intense pace and they still struggled to beat Boston.

Looks like this one was won by the 2016, 73-win Warriors. Onto the next now
