Brad Stevens vs Billy Donovan

Who is the better coach in your opinion? In their college days, Billy Donovan won back to back national championship in 2006-2007, while Brad Stevens had back to back runner-ups in 2010-2011. In the NBA days though, Brad Stevens seems more successful so far, but Billy Donovan also proves that he can do verywell without the cancer Westbrook holding him back. To me, Brad Stevens has higher floor, but Billy Donovan has higher ceiling. What do you think?

As fans we don't have enough knowledge about what goes on behind the scenes and which players do and don't execute game plans well to accurately judge coaches so we just rate them based on wins and losses. Not to pick on the first post but most of the analysis in it is about who won more. Well you can trash Westbrook if you want, I don't think his style is a great basis for an offense myself but what Celtic under Stevens had ever gotten a first place MVP vote mitch less won the award? And even if you think Westbrook sucks which Celtic is on par with a healthy Durant? When you consider the different caliber of stars that they coached is it relevant to compare them based on playoff success?

Yeah, Thunder with Durant played much better teams in the playoffs than Celtics. You cant compare

One thing is for sure tho. Those two coaches are definitely better than ty lue, a scrub who just rode on lbj's back en route to one chip and 3 finals trips.

Donovan is a bottom 5 coach in the league. He is terrible

Stevens is overrated but hes still a good top 10 coach

Nah they were underdogs in every series they lost other than maybe 2018, but I'm not going to blame him for all the missed shots in game 7. Not every loss is on coaching. Guys were missing shots that game they made all series and the sets were fine. Only an idiot GM would fire Brad Stevens, but there are many idiot GMs in the NBA who recycle coaches like soda cans only to get the same result. Look at Vlade Divac. How many coaches did he go through? Did it ever help the Kings win firing coaches every year?
