Re: Breaking Lou Williams signing with lakers
PG: D'Angelo Russell | Lou Williams | Jabari Brown
SG: Jordan Clarkson | Anthony Brown | Wayne Ellington
SF: Kobe Bryant | Nick Young | Ryan Kelly
PF: Julius Randle | Jordan Hill | Tarid Black
C: Roy Hibbert | Robert Upshaw | Robert Sacre
Lou Williams + Nick Young coming in and putting up 30 pts off the bench?

Kobe will have to go to 3. Otherwise this just wastes minutes for the younguns

Fairly certain this means we're not keeping Young.

Hill and Ellington aren't on the team anymore, are they?
Roster would look more like this:
PG: D'Angelo Russell | Lou Williams
SG: Jordan Clarkson | Jabari Brown
SF: Kobe Bryant | Nick Young | Anthony Brown
PF: Julius Randle | Tarik Black | Ryan Kelly
C: Roy Hibbert | Robert Upshaw | Robert Sacre
I don't like the idea of Kobe playing SF, but I guess he now has to.

Interesting. Don't know if it matters much, but it's something. Now just to trade Nick Young...
They locked up Young for a reason. He's a fan favorite and puts asses in the seats.
He's not getting traded.
Mitch on his re-signing:
"When Nick became a free agent in June, I expressed hope that we would be able to bring him back on a contract that was in the best interest of both the Lakers and himself, and I am proud to say we were able to do so
"Nick was a bright spot for us last season, and we are happy to retain such a skilled player who is committed to being a part of what we are building as a franchise."

What makes you think that? Young was not reported to be in the trade for Hibbert..plus all they need to do to get Hibbert is dump Robert Sacre + Jabari Brown to free up that 2 mill to add to their 5 mill of remaining cap space this season.
They still have an MLE to use which they could use on Jordan Hill and Carlos Boozer

I can see it. Kobe going to the 3 ala Pierce going to the 4 in his twilight years. Bryant actually does a great job against Lebron defensively..

It's actually better for him to play at the 3 considering how slow and poor his defense is now.

Hill and Ellington are free agents but they both played well in their stints in LA so I'm hoping the Lakers resign them using some combination of MLE + veteran's minimums. Robert Sacre + Jabari Brown likely have to be included in the trade to Indiana for Hibbert because Lakers only have 5 mill in cap space. They need 2 more mill to sign Lou Williams (7 mill)
I think Kobe can play SF. It'll allow him to go to the post more with two great 3pt shooters in Russell and Clarkson on the wings. Plus he'll be able to keep up with slower 3s in the league.
