NBA Free Agency: Lakers don't offer Greg Monroe max contract, according to report
The Los Angeles Lakers met with Detroit Pistons big man Greg Monroe on Wednesday morning, but did not offer a maximum salaried contract, according to Mike Bresnahan. Bresnahan also reports that the meeting was "a good exchange of ideas."
Monroe averaged 15.9 points on 49.6 percent shooting and 10.2 rebounds in the '14-15 NBA season with the Pistons, and is reportedly seeking a maximum contract. With LaMarcus Aldridge ruling out the Lakers, it remains to be seen if the team holds fast on not offering Monroe the max or is willing to offer more money now that their primary target has turned them down. While Bresnahan reports that Aldridge did not "gel" with Kobe Bryant, the 19-year veteran was not a part of the Lakers' presentation to Monroe and thus should not be a factor in those negotiations.
Free agents are flying off the shelves, and the Lakers are still waiting to get in on the action. Will Monroe be their first free agent commitment of the summer? Stay tuned to Silver Screen and Roll for updates on this and other Lakers free agency news.

Kobe joins LAL's pitch for Aldridge = Goes bad
Kobe doesn't join LAL's pitch for Monroe = Goes well
Is Kobe just...awkward in social situations? What a weirdo.

Lakers should offer him a max contact. Monroe is still young. He either ends up with the Knicks or Blazers.
