Default JR Smith...This decades Jim Jackson

After his explosion yesterday I started thinking...

Maybe JR Smith will be the Jim Jackson of this era. They have a lot of similarities.

Neither player is a liability offensively or defensively. They really don't lack any skill. JR can shoot, drive, rebound, pass, defend, and even has a midrange game. Jim Jackson had the ability too.

Their issues are both being potential headaches to deal with on certain teams. Jim Jackson had like 8 different teams by the time his career winded down. JR is on his 5th team I believe.

Jim Jackson had some great scoring outbursts and on any given night, could out match a star wing.

A healthy Mavs Jimmy Jackson was better than JR Smith. Jackson was a more complete player and not as streaky as JR. Before the injuries happened, Jackson in Dallas was on his way to being consistent All Star material. After the injuries, he was a good role player. But wasn't the guy who was a top 10 SG caliber player.

He was a slightly lesser version of Brandon Roy back in the day. Guys who could play PG and SF in addition to their natural SG spot. Over time, Jackson developed his three ball more than Roy had the chance to.

Great comparisons. JR has the combined talent and playing styles of Isiah Rider and Jim Jackson, who interestingly enough, were teammates with the Hawks, which JR burned yesterday.

..aaand he's heat check attitude is at John Starks level.
