Ive jammed my finger plenty of times. For me, icing it for long periods of time works best. In less than 2 weeks it was fine. Ive tried leaving it alone, but it didnt heal for over 5-6 weeks. Ive tried creams as well and it healed in around a month. I also taped my finger since it didnt heal in time for the next game. Never felt any discomfort with a taped finger.

Jammed my finger several times and I just continued playing. It would go away in about a week since I would massage it and squeeze it really hard. I never put ice.

When I jammed fingers, I used ice for the first 24 hours and a heating pad after that. It's back to normal in about a week.
