Oh wow, a team that doesn't shoot that many 3s and has Bron & AD going at the rim has the highest FT differential? Shocking.
The Lakers took 35 3's last night and the Nuggets took 38. And they were out free throwed 27-9 @ home.
Doesn't shoot that many 3s lmao. This is cognitive dissonance on a super saiyan level.
I could roast you endlessly on this topic based on the logical framework you attempted to make.

I get that logic and it is sound. Still it doesn’t feel like it would account for the amount of a difference we are seeing. Like the graphic showed, Lakers and 2nd place has over 2x the difference than between 2nd and 11th. That’s insane.

I heard a breakdown of the ft thing recently. Paraphrasing there are team(s) that get to the foul line more than the Lakers. There are also team(s) that commit fewer fouls than the Lakers. However the Lakers are the only team near the top in both categories.

That happened. I commented it right away in the game thread here. It was 4 steps with a jump in the middle.

Marginal contact. After all, Murray made the dunk so the blow to the face didn’t effect the shot.

There was another camera angle when they showed it in slo-mo. The ball was not leaving his hand.
Anyway, this is not such a big deal. It was a missed call. The one at the end of the game with the 'marginal contact' after the review was not a missed call though. That was straight BS. The two bigger fouls happened a second before the 'clean block' on the very same motion. That 'review' was... wow. Throughout the game the refs were bad both ways but 27-9 is excessive. Doesn't matter much, it's over.

That’s not really a good reason. We have seen countless times fouls be called after the ball has left the shooter’s hand.

Hmmm. Interesting. I guess it can be possible. Those statistics are just pretty eye popping.

There was a similar play, also up for review, where MPJ hit DLo in the face on a drive after he had taken the shot. It was a clear foul to the face, but ruled marginal contact on the review. LeBron specifically complained about it after that game, in a non-answer to another question. (It was game 2, I think).
I happen to agree with you. But “marginal contact” seems to be the league’s way of waving their hands. A foul is what they say it is, and it seems to be in their interest to keep both players and fans in the dark about where the lines actually are, because there’s no consistency. Please note, I’m not even saying the games are rigged. The calls are too random to make that determination without some much deeper statistical analysis, which goes way beyond my resources.
I will note that scoring in the playoffs is down an average of about 10 points per game from the regular season. Typically, the drop off is around three points. I’d approve of that, but sometimes we get pre-all star break calls, and the next play we get playoff calls.
