Default Lebron still annoyed about the 2013 DPOY voting.

    https://youtube.com/shorts/JsLIV2gMG...EDNMXLHmjROuZ3

he talks about how he came in second, but the winner wasn’t even all D first team. It’s certainly weird, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he should’ve won.

He didn’t specify 2013 and he was actually second in two seasons, but he was second to Dwight one year and it wasn’t even close.

Wasn't that the last year coaches voted for the All-Defensive team? They had no input for DPoY (the media has voted for it since the award's inception), which is one way to explain the discrepancy.

No voting panel is consistently spot-on, but I've agreed with the media's selections more consistently. Coaches, while more knowledgeable about the game, aren't paid to follow the rest of the league, and it's hard to imagine they have time to watch many regular-season games outside of their own team's footage and scouting reports for whichever match-up they're focusing on that night.

LeBron may or may not have deserved that DPoY, but the bigger travesty here is Marc being left off the first team.

It is pretty inexplicable that not one but two centers would be voted over the DPOY on the All-Defensive Team

I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'd have to assume that's the only time the DPOY didn't make All-Defensive First Team. Ditto the MVP not being All-NBA First Team.

I think Wes Unseld won MVP, but didn’t make first team either. Wilt probably made it over him.

Wasn’t Wes. Not sure who I was thinking of. Cowens and Kareem? I’ll figure it out later

Dwight is still annoyed Chandler won DPOY in 2012 over him. Chandler was All-D 2nd Team like Gasol. Howard's off-court drama that preceded his exit from Orlando may have played a factor. And he was injured for the last stretch of the season.

Lebron has EVERY RIGHT to continue carrying this torch. He deserves like 8 DPOYs at least.

It ****ing eats me up that he’s out there still suffering about this and I have no way to comfort him.

He didn't have the impact that Marc Gasol did on D. The Heat were considerably worse on D than the Grizzlies too and Bosh and Wade were just as good & important defensively on that team.

He's had two 2nd place finishes for DPOY. Clearly he wanted one of them.

With that being said, defensive awards are pretty meaningless honestly.

Unseld won MVP in 69, his rookie year. He did not make all defensive team that year, or ever. Bill Russell and Nate Thurmond were both first team that year.

Cowens also did not make all-Defensive team in his MVP year. Pretty weird for two guys mostly known for their defense.

That was a joke for sure.

I remember lebron did some historic things on defense in the playoffs against Indy and especially Parker in the finals.

Biggest award snub ever, 2013 LeBron was the greatest perimeter defender I have ever seen, could guard literally anyone on the court 1-5 at an elite level
