Apparently, this organization was so messed up by the scandal that they almost moved if Jerry Colangelo's purchase wouldn't have been finalized before the 1987 Stock Market Crash.

If Colangelo would have failed, and if the Spurs (or Suns) didn't win the draft lottery, both franchises would have moved (there were rumors that the Spurs were in trouble around the time that they got The Admiral in the 87 Draft).

I wonder if two of the cities chosen for expansion (in the spring of 1987) would have asked the league if they could try to get one of the established teams first.

Also, what if the Sonics won that lottery (coming off of a run to the WCF)? Imagine Payton and Kemp with The Admiral. Scary!
