The sample size is incredibly tiny but just watching him you can definitely see he makes a difference on defense.

He is in the same category as Giannis, extremely physically talented, due to his height and coordination, but very raw in terms of skill, but with a high bball iq.
Like Giannis, he just needs to work really hard at doing some things on offense very well and not try to be everything.
He's more fluid than Giannis , and clearly a more skilled shooter even as a rookie.

Less explosive though, but I do think Giannis should be his model.
Defense first, open floor player, that gets most of his points on fastbreaks, putbacks and lobs.
Then being able to hit the open 3 will already put him above Giannis.
So he has a road to be MVP like Giannis and maybe even more, a top 20ish player, but he'll have to become much better offensively at some skill to be a real top 10 threat like Luka and Jokic are.

As far as him being the offensive revelation some have been predicting… I think that’s a little harder to predict. He already looks as good or better offensively than many defense-first guys ever become, but in terms of getting to a BITW level he’ll have to grow into a more dominant offensive player. He’s never really been that in the pro leagues he’s played in to this point, so it doesnt feel like a lock to just suddenly happen. I hope people around him keep their expectations realistic for his sake.
Honestly with his athleticism he can easily Bill Russell his way through this era.
Or Rudy Gobert but-actually-better his way through it. Whatever.

Re: 4 games in, Victor Wemby's defense is already statistically elite
Those numbers equate to being the 6th-best defense when Victor's on the court and the worst (30th) in the league when he's off the court. Milwaukee is currently the worst-ranked defense in the league at 120.7 defensive rating. San Antonio was the worst defense last season (30th) at 120.0 defensive rating.
Even if you use San Antonio's 2023 defensive rating as a substitute for Wemby's off-court value, his defensive impact still comes out to a -14.4 on/off defensive rating. Crazy.
