Question Is the solo the best part of any song?

I think a good solo breaks up the mundaneness of the rest of the song and just takes the listener out on a voyage into another realm, and then slowly brings you back into the song for the conclusion. Case and point, if none of you are familiar with the genre hilariously known as Yacht Rock, here's a clip of Yacht Rock Captain Christopher Cross playing his famous song Ride Like the Wind. While a great song in its own right from beginning to end, just fast forward to 4:42 of the video and tell me that the solo doesn't make this song that much cooler.

Could Cristopher Cross be any more boring?

No. A good to great solo is the cherry on the sunday for an otherwise great song. If the song is badly written then a solo won't save it.

Also a great song can live without a solo.

I agree, that's why Yngwie Malmsteen never appealed to me. Great guitarist no doubt but it seemed like his songs were written after his solos As a metalhead, Vivian Campbell comes to mind as a greatly underrated soloist for Dio's first 3 albums, great songs with memorable solos to make the songs that much greater.

Never got into this dude, his music just seems so bland to me.

If you like it the best than what does it matter if I don't?

Art shouldn't be so predictable and formulaic imo.

    Poopsie likes Cristopher Cross?

Good God he's even older than we thought.
