Default Is the longevity hoax over?

Longevity, longevity, all these pieces of trash aka Bronsexuals have been selling longevity for the longest.

Uhmmmm....when was the last time he won the MVP Award? Oh yeah way back in 2013. That's over a decade ago. So let's do the math here. He's never won the award in his 30's...so much for sustaining excellence for so long.

When was the last time he made all-nba 1st defensive team? You've guessed it...way back in 2013.
So much for LeSwept being a better defender than MJ.

MJ at age 35 won the MVP of the league and made All-NBA 1st Defensive Team. MJ won 2 MVPs in his 30s and so forth.

    longevity? 4 rings in 20 years!!! That's not even a good batting-average!
    There's only one GOAT:

    6-0-A-T
    Michael "Air" Jordan

    Get phucked, haters!

Great points.. Lebron wasn't required to be a good defender or MVP for half his chips (no all-defense or MVP in his 30's), while MJ was all-defense for every chip and MVP for 4 of them...

MJ also passed more than Lebron for the first half of their chips, aka he led Lebron in playoff APG for the first 9 years of their respective playoff careers (85-93' vs 06-14') until Curry's spacing era made offense easier for everyone starting in 2015.

Was his performance last night impressive? Yes, but it was also spurious.
You have to understand that in the 90s most teams played with 2 Bigs (there wasn't much spacing) and most who drove to the lane ended with their backs on the floor.

LeBron would have not been able to stick around for this long if the rules had not changed. His game relies on speed and strength and he's not a good shooter, never was-never will be. He would have been forced to become a PF (picture Magic Johnson in 97) towards the end of his career.

He's a heck of a player, quite possibly the second greatest of all-time...but he's nowhere near JORDAN!

The longevity argument is such a double standard anyways.

Lebron plays good - "The best to ever do it! Look what he's doing at 38!"

Lebron plays bad - "eh he's old this is expected from him"

You can't have it both ways. If he garnishes praise then he also deserves criticism since that is the longevity standard. Otherwise, what value does longevity even carry?

Spurious indeed and just to piggyback your points - Lebron won 45 games with 2nd Round loss in 2008 until he got all-star spacing in 2009 - Mo taught everyone that Lebron's game needs great spacing be effective and this is precisely what previous eras lacked.. The paint area looked like a crowded nightclub in previous eras, so Lebron would be forced to shoot over defense with deft mid-range touch like every other great scorer of that time period - again, this is precisely what Lebron lacks..

So the combination of 3 factors - lack of spacing for his drives and his inability to shoot over defenses (lack of expert jumpshooting skill) and also the physicality (shown above) - these 3 factors would turn Lebron into a lower-scoring, passive facilitator in previous eras like Kidd or Magic.

There's no real shame in being 2nd to Jordan, there just aren't a lot of holes in Jordan's resume and in terms of crunch time play and intangibles like competiveness, Jordan was damn near psychotic, and it's just in a way unreasonable to expect that from another player. The ability to get a good look in the mid-range in crunch situations I think separates Jordan from LeBron, in those situations LeBron usually is going to pass off and rely on a teammate to get it done, whereas Jordan could create for himself.

This is exactly how the bransexuals have been playing it

Lebron has now played 16 seasons not winning a championship. Longevity works against him too.

Why not? How are they mutually exclusive?

When he plays well, it's despite his old age, not because of it. Whenever he underperforms, however, it can only be because of it. Not sure why he can't get credit for overcoming it at times without being faulted for the other times that he doesn't.
