76ers and Celtics play a game 7 but both coaches, Doc Rivers and Joe Mazzula, are black.


As recent as 2021, 21 of the 30 coaches were white. Now half of the coaches are non-white.

There was a sentiment that you needed a white coach to compete in the playoffs, make successful adjustments, and have the "strategery" to win the championship. That seems to be dying away.

At the same time, you see white starters like Austin Reaves, all-stars like Jokic holding their own.

I trust this post will earn its share of "who cares about race", "virtue signaling !1!11!" types that infest all forums. Still I find the development interesting- and shows the positive sign those old biases are being forgotten.
