If you think yelling at the ref is the same as curling up on the floor in the fetal position crying, then it sounds to me like there's some emotional attachment.

It's not the same, but it's the same intensity of emotions, while one guy copes with his frustrations by being a pathetic showboater the other does it by being an unhinged psycho. They're both melting down hard, just differently.

In college I've seen guys try to run up and attack referees. Not falls onto their knees in the middle of the court.

Yeah the biggest meltdown I've ever seen was that guy Stewart from Detroit charging at Lebron over and over after getting a bloody nose or sth. He completely lost his mind that time.

Yeah, I thought of that one too. That was hilarious. I started laughing when it looked like his teammates had calmed him down, and as soon as they let him go he went charging back. Lol.
