This shows that today's spaced-out, non-physical, "beginner" format yields a threes and layups skillet that is inferior to the instinct, shot diversity and touch required of the unspaced, physical eras (advanced format).

I watched Luka literally gallivant down the lane untouched for the easiest layup anyone could ever make - so why can't he average 40 in this format?.. It's because of weak pure scoring ability (touch, instinct, repertoire) compared to the best scorers in prior eras.. Let's face it - Luka has 1 go-to move - the hesitation, between-the-legs move and I guess a step-back too - that's it - that's why no 40 ppg

what made jordan was being that skilled in a 6'6 black guys frame woth insane athleticism. to be that good of a mid range shooter with a ball that fits in your hand like a grapefruit is extremely rare

The biggest factor on offense is spacing

Jordan averaged 37/5/5 on 48% without spacing when teams were giving up 5 less points per 100 possession.

I remember when we used to quibble about a 1 or 2 point gap in league ORTG when comparing the 1988 to 2009, but now the gap is literally 5-10 points depending on the year we're looking at - it's a massive gap/advantage, yet today's robots (threes and layups bums) can't do shit about it...

It's funny that everyone says that today's game has better athletes yet all I see are slow, fat guys that are "moving their feet" and getting repeatedly destroyed by fast ball-handlers - today's game is a joke.. who can't move their feet like plumlee or vucevic or horford? .. those guys aren't world-beaters and the league is fulleof these "athletes"

The difference is every wing defender today is a 6’5-6’9 athletic black guy that lifts weight, watches film and most importantly can play zone defense. What made Jordan unique was iso-ing against Craig Ehlo and Jeff Hornacek with no help defense

Non-shooters like SGA or Zion barely average 25 at the rim in today's wide open paint, so they would barely average 20 against the packed paints and unspaced courts of prior decades, aka Larry Johnson or Isiah Rider

So they can barely get 25 against open paint, while Jordan averaged 37 against packed paints because he had goat repertoire and pure scoring ability (touch in traffic, instinct, expert jumpshooting)

The paints were packed in previous eras so the help defense was already there and WAITING - they didn't have to come from the weakside like today's spaced courts.. No spacing = closer help defenders

Prior eras didn't have today's 3-point strategy to draw defenders away from the rim and space the floor, so the paint stayed packed
