Stats are inflated compared to slower, more physical eras. Dont think many debate that.

That doesnt have anything to do with whether players are better or worse.

And I'm sure OP's right, some players who were "pretty good" in other eras might be even better today. Meanwhile other players from those eras wouldnt even make the league today. Just depends on what their games were and how they'd jive with today. You could say someone like Thomas Bryant might have been Alonzo Mourning if he played in the past, while today he's just Thomas Bryant. You could speculate on how someone fits another era six ways to sunday.

At the end of the day it's different eras, and a different game. The only one who indisputably transcends is Lebron.

Shaq was done at around 34
    Hakeem? 35

Only Kareem, LeBron & Karl Malone played at a very high level in their late 30's.

Lebron has been the biggest team underachiever this year and last year, so he isn't playing at a high level and certainly not at the level of jordan BEFORE jordan turned 39 (and getting hurt)- 38 year Jordan was a WINNER (4 seed) and averaged similar numbers (25/5/5) with 3 game-winners and 5 forty-point games (1 fifty point game)... That destroys Lebron and Lebron has a great cast and easy era (teams allow 10 more points per 100 possessions than 2002).
