The reason Jordan didn't practice it was because he knew he couldn't get better.

He could get better. Between the 1994-95 and 1996-97 seasons, that is. Then in 1997-98 he became significantly worse again. And don't even get me started on his Wizards years.
It's not like the knowledge that 3 > 2 wasn't there, it's just that his range wasn't there to match his 3pt percentages from the shortened line.
