Default NBA to allow High Schoolers to enter Draft again

Good grief…it will lower the quality of play just like it did before.

They're doing everything they can to throw Bronie's kid a bone.

This won't go into effect until 2024. Bronie graduates HS in 2023.

I'm sure the NBA changed their rules for a 15 year old who is currently not even ranked in the top 25 in his class.

You'd be surprised. Bronie still has a lot of clout with the league.

One of the biggest myths is that most kids drafted out of high school don’t make it and we get enamored with a few success stories. There were only 7 flameouts but 20+ good to great players out of only 41 ever drafted. The success rate of those players is higher than any other source.

James Kobe KG and TMac are hall of fame guys. Not sure how op can hold such an opinion after all these years. His hate for James beat his love for Kobe and both are among the greatest of all time.

Of course. However, it was only about two weeks ago that Lebron made a public statement that he wants to play alongside both his sons. Now the NBA announces a change that will make it much more likely that it can happen.

    Could be a coincidence....

True, although it arguably should be.

Well, only seven? Leon Smith, Darius Miles, Eddy Curry, Kwame Brown, DeSagana Diop, Travis Outlaw, Sebastian Telfair, Ndu Ebi, Jackie Butler all come to mind as players who would have had a much better career with four years in college. And I am missing some. There could be reasons to defend both positions, it's a difficult matter. Maybe players 20 years ago were not as prepared, or maybe they were more prepared, it will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Good! There will be even more context to show just how insanely impressive LeBron's rookie season of 21/6/6 and his 2nd season of 27/7/7 while coming straight out of high school truly were.

7 because those are the real flameouts. I’m not calling a guy who played 20 years and retired due to injury or a heart condition a flameout. Hell telfair played 10 years and the 4 year college guy drafted right after him lasted 4.

We talk up infamous high school busts from classes a guy went to school for 4 years went number 1 and had a year and a half of decent ball before being a joke.

The success rate of straight to pro players is way way higher than any other and the busts while infamous aren’t that high in number. Lot more Al Harrington types who played 14-15 years of good ball than guys who became cautionary tales.

And some of the cautionary tales are medical anyway. I don’t think college fixed Eddy Curry’s heart condition or keeps Darius Miles knee in one piece.
