The way he's been playing the last few games are a breakout for him - we're seeing his inner-Jordan emerge

He's a great assist target for teammates via catch-and-shoot or slash, which gives teammates spacing and elevates their role to playmaker rather than reduce to spot-up shooter.. By the same token, he has capacity for elite on-ball playmaking too, like when he found Lebron in the corner.. On that play, Lebron was elevating Monk by being the assist target/bailout option that provides spacing and elevates everyone's role to playmaker (rather than reduce to spot-up shooter).

So they're learning how to elevate each other (stand in the corner for each other), and therefore have a chance, especially given they're actually massively underachieving their favored talent.

That doesn't mean they don't use similar moves and style when attacking the rim.. Monk simply hasn't come into his own or started playing his game yet on the NBA level, so his opportunity/playing time has been short.

Only in the last couple games have we seen some glimpses of his ability.
