The NBA has taken "basketball" or sport out of the game (contested shooting)
Threes and layups is more of a technique, not a sport
It's not that there's no contested shot-making, but that's not what makes a team good anymore or gives them an advantage.
The no-spacing eras required contested shot-making, while today's format allows excessive spacing and an easier shot allocation.. the truth is that Zion will never develop that feathery mid-range touch because he doesn't have to - today's game allows him to attack the rim like beating a dead horse.
So the real skill and heart of the game (contested shooting) has been minimized as a factor, and now it's more like a running back that just needs the speed to shoot that gap (spacing).. the real skill aspect of basketball has been minimized

Idk, making wide open threes isn't always as easy as it seems

I've been doing that at my park for 15 years. (Wow I feel old just typing that ) I saved the tough midrange shots for game winners.

Something is off in what you said
No spacing environments don't allow just threes and layups
And anyone trusted with game-winners isn't just getting threes and layups on the playground.. they're probably the purest of scorers and pretty dope
So something doesn't add up in your story and I conclude that you're not actually "that guy" trusted with the game on the line (and a long wait on the sideline)

Aren't you tired of this, though? I think people get it, and some do agree. But do you have to make the same posts over and over and over again?

Yes, I do because it's how I consume the game, since it's not worth watching anymore
