By this, I mean I don't think he actually works on his basketball skills/game anymore and probably hasn't in the last few years.

Yeah he works his body out hard, but he doesn't work on his game at all in the offseason. It's basically body training/rest, and then living the good life traveling and being a socialite making movies and going to exclusive events. He's basically hoping his body will hold up and carry him across the finish line to claim the all-time scoring record and maybe win one more ring as a top 10-15 player.
