He's gonna cost more than anything the Pats are willing to give. They lowballed the GOAT.

It's hard to predict what the market will be like for Prescott coming off this injury. We of course can't be sure he's a Patriot next season but the Pats have handed out large deals before. Brady didn't leave New England over money.

Somebody please explain how we were going to sign Dak next year... can anybody do that?

current cap space for 2021 (without Dak): $26.47 million

That is enough to sign Dak pretty much, the cap will go up... honestly looking at that list, DeMarcus Lawrence is hands down the most overpaid player on the team and unless he suddenly breaks out he's going to get cut for sure. Everyone likes to complain about Zeke's contact needs to look Lawrence who makes 2X as much as Zeke.

Daks surgery was successful and supposedly he'll be 100% in 4-6 months.

So you'd be down to cut D-Law, and sign Dak?

We don't have Aldon Smith or Everson Griffin on the roster next year... and now D-Law too? Who is going to be on the D-Line?

Personally I don't mind Zeke's contract, he may not get the big runs like he did 2016, but he is still a beast that can move the chains... and I've been saying this over and over again: When you have Zeke, Cooper, and Lamb... you don't need to pay for an elite QB, and I wouldn't even consider Dak one of the elites at the end of the day. Let's wait and see how you feel about Dak now that Dalton is in, but it's not really fair for Dalton considering both tackles T.Smith & L.Collins are gone for the year.

We really need Dalton to take over for 2021 and 2022 just so we have the finances to rebuild the defense and get back to being a run first team.

It will be interesting to see what Dalton can do...I think that will really put Dak's worth into perspective.

As far as Lawrence goes, he's going to get cut no matter what...with or without Dak. He had a monster sack vs NY that resulted in a TD, but outside of that moment he has been a non-factor and no where near elite edge rusher money...it's impossible to justify $25m for that guy. If Aldon keeps up we could franchise him, or even give him a contract.

The Cowboys will do the same thing they've always done. Restructure some of their existing contracts, kicking the can down the road to make cap room today. That's assuming that Jerry continues to delude himself that his team is a championship contender. Assuming Jerry decides not to blow the team up and go full rebuild, he'll bring Dak back and franchise him again for 2021. That'll give the Cowboys a full season to evaluate how well Dak has recovered from his injury without committing them to anything long-term. If he looks good they'll try to sign him to a long-term deal, if not they'll either lowball him or let him hit free agency.

Yea I still don't see how they restructure anyone's deal to save enough money for a $35+mil franchise tag on QB... and still get another $10mil+ free for draft picks, and we could have a top 5 pick in 2021.

Andrew Thomas, last year's 4th round pick is making close to $6 mil this year: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york...-thomas-47597/

I know most people suspect Dak will get franchised... still nobody can explain how they plan on adding an extra $15-$20 mil to the cap based on sportrac's figures. Only $32 mil in cap space for the 2021 season without Dak (probably need about $47 mil minimum). I suppose cutting D-Law could get you there, but that seems unlikely.
