OP, this whole season is one massive asterisk.

There are many MAJOR issues that have watered down the current NBA product. There is some different mental strain for players than normal but...yeah I HIGHLY doubt the Clippers blow a 3-1 lead with home court advantage/fans. Also I doubt we'd have Miami in the finals.

Again folks, the last round of the PGA Tour was down 56%. Hockey is down over 60%. Both of those sports are down more than Hoops vs. last year.

It's not the politics. The Kentucky Derby was down by 43%...nba finals were down 45%

The impact of the BLM stuff is negligible on ratings.

The no crowd ordeal is a big reason. The games still count and the winner is obviously awarded their championship. The games however aren't as exciting without the fans. Its not the same when you have fans either on your side, or booing you out of the gym. The political stuff is a turnoff, but not a big deal in-terms of ratings.
