Re: Rate the last Movie you watched
We watched “Barbarian” and “Licorice Pizza” recently.
Barbarian was pretty weird, but went in some different directions that were unexpected. As far horror movies go, better than average. Not too gory.
Licorice Pizza was very good, examining manipulation and ego in the 70s. I generally like PTAs work. The two first time actors are GREAT.

I watched Nope a couple days ago and thought it was pretty good. The acting was good and I like the way the story developed. …Just the alien ****ing sucked, it looked like a big umbrella or something.

Re: Rate the last Movie you watched
Just watched Seven Samurai for the first time (over a couple viewings). An insane amount of enormous American films are blatantly influenced by it; Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark being the biggest I can think of. Lord of the Rings too but that was later so it probably had more directly influenced by films that were influenced by this one.
It doesn't necessarily hold up in a modern sense with the effects and dialogue, given that it was 70 years ago. But for the overall craft, narrative, and significance in its time I'd go 9.4/10

It was basically the blueprint for the most recognized western movie pre-Leone. I'm not sure if Lucas and Spielberg directly took their inspiration from Kurosawa.
The LOTR books were published the same year the movie came out.

Lucas certainly did. The Samurai/Jedi parallels are ridiculous.
As for LOTR, I wasn't referring to the narrative but the direction of the movies.

They’re really making a movie about a bear on cocaine. I thot it was satire.

It’s based on a true story.
I watched the Wednesday series on Netflix and must say it was amazing. I’d probably give it a 10 and I almost never give out 10s.

The first Spider-Verse is still the best Spider-Man movie of all time.
I'll be seeing this in 3-D when it hits theaters.

Avatar 2: 8/10
Very long movie (almost 3.5 hours) but the visuals were amazing and story was interesting. Action was good too. I recommend watching this in IMAX or 3-D
