The Knicks are in a cycle. They clear out cap space. They go after the premiere free agents and whiff. They sign second tier players and try to convince their fans "hey, this is the guy we wanted all along!". Then they suck and get lucky with one of their draft picks. They draft someone who actually is talented. Someone who could be a building for the future if they're patient.

Then they look at the upcoming free agent market and say to themselve "Man, those guys would love to come to New York and play for the Knicks." So they trade away their building block to free up cap space.

KP didn't want to stay, and his recovery seems to take forever. KP and his brother seems like a strange fit with N.Y, basically since the start

N.Y bring a Steve Francis clone who will alway be better than Tim Hardaway Jr, draft picks and 2 max slots. I'm not sold on D Smith but i feel like he still have the potential to do a DeArron Fox in Year 3

Now if only they could really work on their competitive project and not make the Free Agents flee like the plague...

One of the picks (2021) is apparently unprotected.

The other (2023) is top 10 protected.

My opinion just shifted a bit on this deal. You still have to do it if you are Dallas, but Cuban better go out and sign somebody that matters with the cap space we have this summer to convince Kristaps to stay.

35 million combined to Harrison Barnes and Powell pretty much just sucks.

I'd love to find a place for both of them on a team we don't have to take much money back.
