MJ had Christian Laettner, the all star.
A 20+ point scorer in Stackhouse. 2x all star
Hughes

On the same team.

Missed the playoffs.

.
Regular Season

MJ. 85-87':. 31.7 ppg.. 2.0 oreb.. 3.6 dreb.. 5.0 apg.. 2.6 spg.. 1.2 bpg.. 57.1 ts.. 27.8 PER
LBJ 06-08'... 27.2 ppg.. 1.2 oreb.. 5.9 dreb.. 7.1 apg.. 1.4 spg.. 1.0 bpg.. 56.3 ts.. 27.2 PER..

^^^ yet MJ got the 8 seed and Lebron got a 2 seed and a couple 4 seeds

Playoffs

MJ. 85-87':. 35.5 ppg.. 1.9 oreb.. 4.4 dreb.. 6.9 apg.. 2.4 spg.. 1.5 bpg.. 56.0 ts.. 27.4 PER
LBJ 06-08'... 27.5 ppg.. 1.4 oreb.. 6.6 dreb.. 7.3 apg.. 1.6 spg.. 0.8 bpg.. 53.1 ts.. 23.8 PER..

^^^ Yet MJ lost in the 1st round and Lebron made Finals... obviously, MJ had the worse cast

And lebron missed it with the East all-star center

Again, lebron needed Hughes and Zydrunas to make the playoffs, just like MJ needed pip to make 2nd round.. except 89' pippen wasn't capable of 2-time all-star (05' Zydrunas), or 22/5/5 and 1st team all-D (05' Hughes)

Like, do you really think lebron carried lottery teams to the 2 seed and Finals, while MJ had 8 seeds and 1st round exits with the same cast?

No - MJ had nothing until 1989, and 89' pippen was still less than 05' Hughes or Zydrunas.. lebron's conference was also weak, so that contributed to his higher seeds too.....

Unfortunately, the way the media analyzes lebron/MJ, they imply that lebron was getting high seeds and the Finals with the same casts that MJ got 8 seeds with... But that's not true, and the stats above show that mj was producing far more than lebron..

MJ either lost in the first round or missed the playoffs without Pippen, yikes.

Neither were decorated players

i.e. neither were anywhere near top 3 at their position in the conference (all-star) like Zydrunas, nor were they the best defender at their position (1st team all-D) like Hughes

Rookie and 2nd year Oakley was < drew gooden's 14.4/9.2... similar players... Gooden was comparable to 89' pippen too.. probably better, tbh

Oakley became an all-star later after he escaped from MJ ball.

Lebron had 3 guys equal or better than 89' pippen:

1) Zydrunas 2-time all-star
2) Hughes all-nba defender, 22/6/5 in 05'
3) Gooden 14.4/9.2

do you really think lebron got 2 seed and Finals with the same caliber cast as MJ's 8 seeds?

keep in mind that jordan's 32/6/5 got 8 seeds, while lebron's 27/7/7 got 2 seeds..... and jordan's 36/6/7 lost in the 1st round, while lebron's 27/7/7 made the Finals

Unfortunately, the way the media analyzes lebron/MJ, they imply that lebron was getting high seeds and the Finals with the same casts that MJ got 8 seeds with... But that's not true, and the stats above show that mj was producing far more than lebron, and didn't have lebron's decorated teammates, nor the easy conference

LeBron won 66 games with trash in 2009.

I will never understand why "1-9" gets under MJ fans' skin so much. It's such a meaningless stat given what MJ played with from 85-87. It shouldn't bother them in the least. Yet somehow, it does.

And leads to embarrassing threads like these
