Oklahoma City might have had the best offseason in the NBA this summer when they added Carmelo Anthony and Paul George to their squad, only giving up Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis, Doug McDermott, and Enes Kanter in the process.
looking like they gave up way too much to me. Carmelo sucks!

The Jazz outscored the Thunder by 14 points while PG-13 was on the floor. That's especially surprising because rookie Donovan Mitchell guarded George for long stretches of the game.
What is surprising about it? Mitchell can play!

It's going to be impossible for the Jazz to play this well defensively all season long.
Why? They should keep getting better

His shot was also not at its best, shooting only 5-14 and 2-8 from three.
sadly that is a typical night for him

you look at Rubio's plus-minus tonight, and he had the best of any player in the game, a +13. Why?
because he plays with their best players most of the game?

Rubio spends the entire time looking in one direction, knowing he'll find Thabo Sefolosha in the corner for the wide open three (which missed, but still, great look).
of course it was a great look. I think he's been wide open for every 3 he shot this year. That's what the defense wants.

If Rubio had looked at Sefolosha sooner, the OKC defense would have swapped over and guarded the strong side, but Rubio changed which side was the strong side just by using his eyes.
They would have still left him open as D's will all year long. Guard Johnson Gobert or Thabo for 3? Easy choice there!

Rubio led the Jazz in minutes with nearly 37, probably more than Snyder would like. But Rubio's court vision and smarts played a big role in the Jazz's win, Snyder had to stay on the floor.
It was a blowout. He certainly didn't have to play that much. He just doesn't like Neto and Burks!

"Ekpe knows who he is as a player. He can defend. I think he's gotten more efficient offensively, where he doesn't take any bad shots," Snyder said. "He knows who he is, and I mean that in a complementary way. He really gravitates to the things that he does well."

That's why he won the backup big man spot, despite most observers thinking Jonas Jerebko would be that player after the two were signed nearly simultaneously this summer.
most people seemed to think both would be playing and Johnson would move back to the 4 despite Johnson playing his best at the 4 last year. I don't think Ekpe should play as long as Favors is on the team. Their spacing sucks! Bolomboy should be playing ahead of both.

It kind of reminds me of Ingles, who came to the NBA from the Euroleague and started his time with the Jazz as the 15th man.
He's played almost every game since he joined. Was never the 15th man

Udoh is playing a bigger role than expected, just three games into his first season with the Jazz. And it's all because he took a good piece of advice from Socrates.
He's the back-up center which is what most expected

offense that is unselfishly efficient enough to succeed
OKC wasn't good defensively. Minnesota was and the beat them. From what I've seen good D will make it tough on them and they can beat teams that don't play D

Joe Johnson and Derrick Favors also scored in double figures, helping offset the absence of injured Rodney Hood. Rookie Donovan Mitchell managed a team-best six assists.
Not sure they win so easily with Hood playing. He's a one trick pony

Ingles taking good looks is something head coach Quin Snyder has emphasized,
Well duh he's one of only a few guys that can actually hit them. Defenses are going to stop giving him open looks

[QUOTE]While Ingles and Rodney Hood (who did not play Saturday after suffering a leg strain against the Timberwolves) are the primary players Snyder is looking to for outside shooting, the coach said Saturday that he wants to see the rest of his team be aggressive from behind the 3-point line.

As a team, Utah shot 9 of 29 on Saturday and is 27 of 75 on the season thus far.

Favors needs to play the four and quit this business of being the back up Center. I know there is a minutes problem but work it out another way. Burks should start with Hood out. Mitchell needs to learn with the second unit.
Favors needs to play the 5 as much as possible until he is traded. Their spacing sucks. They look best with a big and 4 playmakers around him.

Burks should start even when Hood comes back but he might just end up out of the rotation. Pretty clear that the coach doesn't care for him or Neto

“That’s who we are. That’s who we want to be,” Snyder said. “We want to be a defensive-minded club and have our play reflect that every night out.”
Don't have much choice. Maybe they can stay in the race until they can move Favors and Hood for a starting stretch 4? I guess if you could trade them at all would be ok. Move Jerebko to the starting 4 or Sefolosha.

Rookie forward Royce O'Neale made his NBA debut. He didn't register a stat in the final 44 seconds but committed one foul.
    his home debut?

When Oklahoma City added Paul George and Carmelo Anthony to reigning league MVP Russell Westbrook, many assumed the Thunder had created an unstoppable juggernaut.

    So much for that.
And unlike the Jazz GS and SA play both ends of the floor.
