ARs are flying off the shelves in Cali because of the new gun laws, which might be able to survive a court battle. No bullet buttons. So you might only be able to buy a stupid looking featureless AR style rifle after the July 1st 2017.

And I'm sure in the terribly unlikely event that a Russian soldier is walking down your street, you'll have just enough time to load it before he blows your brains out through head from 50 yds out because he's a soldier and you're a nerd seeking attention on a website.

Having guns/rifles is a deterrent, not an answer.

Of course if the U.S. government really wanted too they could nuke anyone they wanted to hell and back via remote controlled drones. The problem is they would have to go there which they do not want.

Ideally they would want to march us out in camps like they did in communist Russia. Cold bodies don't produce, they could use living, working bodies as a commodity . Infrastructure would be intact, ground would not be irradiated. The Gulag was a means of generating GNP for free. Killing everyone would be a loss for them(the government).

That is why gun ownership is a big deal. Of course the U.S. population couldn't go toe to toe with the U.S. government; but having the capability to do some damage to them and force them to resort to drone carpet bombing and or nukes is a huge deal. In our most recent century, 1st world countries Germany and Russia have systematically enslaved or killed populations that did not have access to firearms. They would simply take people away with a group of a dozen or so and send them to camps where they would never be seen again. If on a mass scale people were being actively unconstitutionally abducted from their homes in the U.S. like what happened in Germany and Russia, people would start shooting. It would flip the script and make it so that it would not be an effortless extraction, it would turn into an all out war, which is a losing scenario for the government, as I said before the government going to all out war with their population is the worst case scenario for them.


Long story short, guns protect constitutional rights by keeping the government honest

It's not about winning or losing vs the US Armed forces/government, it's about turning it from a cake walk, into a difficult and more importantly an unprofitable mission.
