Overlooked Free Agency Cheat: Noah to the Knicks

We all knew Noah was going to the Knicks before the 1st. In fact, as soon as midnight hit, Noah was on the Knicks side in meetings recruiting other free agents. How is it possible that he had his agreement so fast that he was recruiting for the Knicks by midnight. The Knicks and Noah clearly talked contracts before they were allowed to and everybody knows it. How was this not punished?

The point is to give other teams a chance to negotiate. It also gives the Knicks an unfair advantage in negotiating with other free agents, because they already filled 1 need so they can turn their attention on their next target. You know, the same reason this rule is in place for all teams. If they negotiate during the proper time and still want to be with each other, that is still the prerogative. Nobody is taking that away from them.

This is a practice that has been allowed for a long time and it's not a big deal. It's not a big deal because Noah will hear all offers that are floated out there, not just from the Knicks. It's a free market and this isn't a practice that only happened with the Knicks this year. It's a very small community and there are a very small number of agents (who rep the high dollar players) so everyone has a feel of what's happening. You're being butt hurt over nothing. Other teams knew that Noah was going to sign there and they can sign other players and be in a position of supposed "advantage" by targeting the players that they had deemed valuable this or any other offseason. Free agency essentially begins when the finals are over and has for a long time.
