Dirk is the first 37-year-old to accomplish this feat, actually. It's unprecedented, as the 1979-80 season is when the three-point line was instituted; I'm pretty sure that was what what ESPN was hinting at as well—to effectively announce him as the oldest player with that stat-set.
The second-oldest player to notch this feat was a then 36-years-, 171-day-old Antawn Jamison in a game against the Denver Nuggets on November 30th, 2012.
The first-accomplishing player, however, is Reggie Miller in a 1989 game against the Warriors.

5 made threes along with 10 rebounds is really narrowing the field. On top of that you put the age qualifier. Then it turns out he isn't the oldest to do it so you gotta attach the "since" qualifier. That's too much for me.
