Does LeBron not competing in the Slam Dunk contest make him a beta?
If you think about it, all of the all-time great dunkers competed in the contest. MJ, Nique, Dr. J, Drexler, Kobe, Kemp, Griffin, etc. But not LeBron. Why? And what's worse is this guy said he would but didn't. Something about this guy and decisions huh?

I think it has more with the allure of the contest being at an alltime low when he 1st hit the league, then once it became interesting again he felt it was too late. He'll ever do it now for sure. I always thought if they wanted the stars to come back out they should have raised the prize value to get their attention. Remember for guys back in the 80's and 90's the prize money was a decent grab in relation to their salaries.

Decent college freshman
Re: Does LeBron not competing in the Slam Dunk contest make him a beta?
Completely beta ESPECIALLY after he said he would 100% compete the following year and then didn't. #scaredbeta
I don't know why either. The judges/fans would ensure that he wins unless he just straight misses dunks.

No, and to even suggest that is pure trollling.
Reported.

True. The league should've increased the prize money when the contest was losing interest. Nothing talks like money.

Trust the process.
Re: Does LeBron not competing in the Slam Dunk contest make him a beta?
There is no reason that it was a must for him to do it.
There were mostly no names doing it and the contest was at it's weakest. And he already said he wasnt creative enough to do it.
The only reason he should've felt pressured to do it is because he kept saying he would and flaking.
This thread is shit tho.

Knicks all da way
Re: Does LeBron not competing in the Slam Dunk contest make him a beta?
No, that's not the reason he's a beta. He was more like an attention whore, yuckin it up during a dunk contest talking about him entering the following year. I can't wait till this guy gets his reality show after he retires. Won't watch.

Yet all of the great dunkers of that era competed in it except him. VC, McGrady, Howard, Richardson, Nate, Green, etc. except him.

Re: Does LeBron not competing in the Slam Dunk contest make him a beta?
It doesnt make him a beta but it's another indication of his beta attitude.
Especially since he kept talking about it in order to get attention only, never to back it up.

Some of these guys make make more money from a tweet than they'd make to win the contest. If it was a million, no question guys would dive in.

Big Booty Hoes!!
Re: Does LeBron not competing in the Slam Dunk contest make him a beta?
During his early years, where stars usually do the dunk contest, the dunk contest was nothing but bums.

Dwight Howard is considered a great dunker? Dude put on a red cape and looked like a goofball out there.

Dude can dunk on a 12 foot rim like it's nothing and put a sticker near the top of the freaken backboard. Just because he made it look easy don't mean it's not special.

The dunk contest is meaningless and has zero impact on how I view a player.
