Just realized that image showed 26 home sell outs with a big 3 as if that is impressive.

A championship ring isn't gonna pay my bills and send my kids to college.

Re: Why cant players form a super team?
Max contracts can pay 20+ mil per year. It would take a lot of ad revenue to make up for that. Plus guys that become superstars generally get that way because they have a strong desire to dominate. It's considered a big thing for a guy like Wade to just become a second option. OP iss talking about great players being roleplayers and even reserves. Not going to happen. And that's a good thing because the NBA needs a little bit or parity, a few stars joining up is ok, maybe even beneficial but you don't want one or two teams having every star.

Seriously, though, soccer is the worst sport in the world when you think about it. Clubs legit have 3 of the top 10 players in the world on the same team. All the top teams have multiple top 30 players on their team. It's like what is the point?

The contract is small, but the amount of marketing revenue you'd get from a 10 player super team in NYC or LA would be stupid.
Plus, they'd set all kinds of records, and just win every year over and over again.
Is there any legal way to stop this? Or could the Cavs, Rockets, and Thunder all opt out, go to NYC, and combine teams when all the players take pay cuts?
You're overestimating marketing revenue and needing to be in a large market to make endorsement money. Only a few players are truly marketable and there probably aren't 10 real marketing studs in the league right now. With the Internet and social media now, which city you play in isn't as important.

Yeah the NBA's been lucky to have something like this happen yet:

Like great player (looking at you Kobe), their salary is nothing compared to their endorsements.
How are they going to get more endorsements by playing less minutes and a smaller role? Putting all these guys on the same team is not going to help any of them financially.

Real and Barca have most of the best players in their league. The best scorer in the EPL just went to the best team in the Spanish league to join the best scorer in the world and another top tier scorer to form the most dangerous attack in the world
Between Chelsea and Arsenal, most of the top 10 players in the EPL are accounted for.
The German league's second best team is a farm for the best team where their best players just jump
In regards to German Bundesliga, its about the money. Borussia was better than Bayern for a few years until they bought out Gotze and Lewandowski.
You have 2 dominant teams in Spain, with 3 other strong teams (Atletico, Valencia and Sevilla)
About 4 strong teams in EPL.
PSG in France
and Juve in Italy
And until the richest men in the world own those top teams, this will never change.

Re: Why cant players form a super team?
Because players want to succeed with their own brand. They don't want their legacy to be that they teamed up with a bunch of stars to form an all-star team. And I don't mean forming a big 3, I mean forming an all-star team.
As somebody said, a player like Wade accepting to be the 2nd option is huge. A lot of stars would not be on board with that in their primes, never mind being a reserve.

this thing called competition....
not much of an accomplishment if the team you play on literally has the 5 best players on the court at all times..
