Why cant players form a super team?
I feel like this has been mentioned on here before, but what is preventing 10 stars from taking $6m a piece and forming a super team?
The contract is small, but the amount of marketing revenue you'd get from a 10 player super team in NYC or LA would be stupid.
Plus, they'd set all kinds of records, and just win every year over and over again.
Is there any legal way to stop this? Or could the Cavs, Rockets, and Thunder all opt out, go to NYC, and combine teams when all the players take pay cuts?

they would lose a lot of fans. NBA will eventually make a rule because they can't lose all the revenue. "No more than 3 players in the top 20 in PER can be on the same team."

That's a ton of money to give up and sharing the spotlight with that many stars will diminish your individual brand. Someone has to be a role player etc

Tell me people wouldnt watch their games?
Kentucky had a super team last year, and many of their games had more viewers than most of the NBA playoffs.

Money, that's why. Winning is cool, but money is more important. Only older players that have already made a fortune take less money to win.

Because at the end of the day...it is the TEAMS that have the authority to sign players...not the other way around.
The top 14 NBA players can all get together and say we are going to take the vet min in order to be on the same team...and if a team is unwilling to do so...they are going nowhere...
That is the reason why this whole player "collusion" is so idiotic. Players cannot collude...only teams as represented by Owners/Presidents/GMs/Executive Officers can collude. Players have zero power to collude.

Im thinking like 5 in, 5 out. Even if you wanted to lower it to, say, 8 stars at $8m a piece...
Lebron has over $100 million in endorsement deals right now, which is about 3 times what his NBA salary is.
Even if you take a $15m cut to play on a super team, you are winning title after title and still getting your endorsements (more).

See post above.
His endorsement deals are more than his salary, easily. Imagine a super team full of big names. They'd get every endorsement in the world.
Like great player (looking at you Kobe), their salary is nothing compared to their endorsements.

That was from last year, but you can see two of UK's games (when their team wasn't that great) were watched by more viewers than ANY NBA game all season, including playoffs.

Yeah, HIS endorsement deals. But if you find the 5 bench players that will be on this team, their endorsements will be smaller, their contract will be smaller, and their personal glory will be less. Bosh and Love have at times struggled being the 3rd man. Imagine how upset they would be as the 10th man.

There is going to be some mega-collusion soon in Cleveland. We're talking Wade-Paul-Melo-Lebron. They're going to be old, but they'll make one last push for a championship or two.
