Scottie was #2 when MJ played.

Obviously but the OP is asking if during any series they played together from 91-98 did Scottie ever outplay Jordan from a stretch of 3-7 games.

From a statistical standpoint, I don't even have to look it up to know statistically he didn't outplay MJ in any series.

However, I'm sure there is a series or 2 in their careers that the #s were reasonably close, and Scottie had superior defensive impact to make it close.

I think Pippen was extremely important, more than usual, albeit still not as good as Mike in the following series:

    '93 ECF v.s. New York
    '98 ECF v.s. Indiana

Those were the series Jordan really needed his help, and Pippen delivered. But he was still clearly the help.

Pip was getting MVP talk for the 98 finals before hurting his back, IIRC.

Even though he was atrocious offensively in every playoff run from '96 - '98.

Yep, it was Pippen's full court pressure against Mark Jackson that really messed us up that series but I still remember MJ being the one to close us out in game 7......

The 1993 series vs the Knicks? It's hard for even Jordan stans to argue that Pippen wasn't the MVP of that series. He hit a bunch of clutch shots and was consistent every night. Their stats:

    Jordan: 32.2ppg 6.2rpg 7.0apg 2.5spg 1.0bpg .400%fg .522%TS
    Pippen: 22.5ppg 6.7 rpg 4.0apg 1.8spg 0.5bpg .510%fg .577%TS

Through the five other games taking away that 52 point explosion from Jordan in game 4 he was averaging 27.8ppg on .351%fg.

His offense in that series was dookie tho. He couldn't get it going. The Bulls in general sucked aside from MJ, but the defense was awesome. He destroyed their offense by guarding Mark Jackson. It was one of the best defense along with one of the worst offense play I ever seen in game 1.

To some degree, I agree with you. Pippen was not the focus of the defense though.
