The Pistons will come back down to Earth. However, I trust it'll be a happy medium between where they were with Smith and where they've been these past two games. They cannot carry on hitting over 50% of their shots all the time (let alone from deep).
Still, regardless of how Smith ends up playing Houston, taking away a guy who leads your team in field goal attempts while hitting 39% from the field, 24% from three, and 48% at the line is going to result in some positive change. It's nearly impossible for such a removal not to help.
