Default Grizzlies and Lakers Gasol trade was fair

Getting Marc Gasol and freeing up cap space for Z BO in exchange for Pau is a damn good deal.

Lakers got a franchise player to win them championships.

Grizzlies got an eventual franchise player who may win them championships.

    Agreed.

It is fair in hindsight, but everybody knew at the time it was a fleecing. If people knew Marc was going to be as good as he is, he wouldn't have been a 2nd round pick.

I wish we hadn't send Marc but turns out to be a great trade for both sides.

Trades aren't based on what happens immediately they are based on their value over time. Marc was young when that happened and you don't know what Memphis saw in him. They may have been scouting him since high school (which I'm sure they were) and thought that they knew something the other teams didn't. I'd say it worked out just fine for them. Lots of good players go in the second round all the time and bums go in the first. KJ McDaniels is outplaying almost every rookie and he was chosen in the second round. Gil, Van Exel lots of dudes.
