Respectfully, do you have much experience playing organized basketball? I only ask because an offensive player knocking over a backpedaling defender trying to impede one's progress is very common. And, as one could imagine, receiving contact while backpedaling can sometimes result in fall consistent with the existing momentum. That is, a player moving backward who's pushed backward, will fall backward.

As for the video involving the stomach, I do not see that as a flop either. For starters, he returned to a semi-prone position as he walked off at the conclusion of the play. Secondly, unfortunately to say, acquiring the ball on offense can make a lot of us overcome maladies.

If the whistle were blown, I'd imagine Jordan would have continued nursing his stomach. But when presented with the opportunity to sink or swim, he swam. I'd say it's likely somewhat similar to those moments during games where you're just out of gas and not sure of how much harder you can push yourself to get back on D, but then there's a turnover and the ball ends up in your hands and suddenly you experience a new burst of energy. That doesn't mean we were faking our physical wear, just that a situation arose that aided in subconsciously overcoming, at least briefly.

TL;DR - Coming from someone who enjoys the games of both Jordan and LeBron, and who went through phases where he really didn't care for either (Jordan during the Pistons rivalry, LeBron during his Super Heat days), I am attempting to be impartial on this matter, and I really would not consider those Jordan plays to be anything close to being flops, regardless of whether one wishes to buy the explanations above.

If you look at Jordan, you will notice on those plays that people consider "flops", he is absorbing contact, moving laterally and sometimes unbalance. You will never see him acting up like he received a shot in the face, when he never did. Those are the ones I can't stand. I think Jordan is by no means, perfect, but he definitely has a great defensive IQ.
