lol, the definition as stated: the mark ∼ used to indicate an approximate value - the players i listed were closer to 38% than jordan was.
lebron's 3pt shooting is what really impresses me though, because he is so focused in other areas. proverbial sugar on the top basically.
^look at this angle where he is shooting a three at. picture, perfect fundamentals. feet are parallel, his hips remain squared - just perfect.
people throwing myths around about lebron's numbers being inflated by open looks. well, 71.3% of his looks from distance since 2010 have been contested (stat last updated after the 2013 finals) - and that shouldn

1. Does "clearing 38% easily" include by 0.3%? (38.3% by Kobe)
2. Thread title "clearly" says ~38% so now you're changing thread topic in the middle to fit an agenda because you weren't smart enough to properly execute the agenda you were trying to push in the original post.
3. Add McGrady and Jordan. Or your thread defeats its own purpose.

Technically Jordan's 37.6 and Kobe's 38.3 are the closest to the 38% mark you claimed in the title. The rest of the guys shouldn't even be there because they're not the closest to 38%

We count LeBron's PPG average post 2006 with rules to pad perimeter players ability to score.
The 3 point lines length wasn't in MJs control the same way LeBron isn't in control of the soft officiating on the perimeter post 2005.
And like it's already been established 37.6 in math rounds up to 38%.

He attempted ALOT of "bad" 3s in Cleveland.. And did so last year aswell. Most were contested.
It's like the "LeBron runs the clock down for his assists" myth that everyone jumps on now..
exactly. he is only going to get better too, as his athleticism fades. he is already one of the most skilled players ever, just wait until he is truly and ONLY reliant on his skills.

I think you're reaching a bit. Not trying to defend the OP, but he clearly states 38% or better. Why wouldn't those other guys be up there?

He says "~38" or better - meaning approximately 38% or anything higher. The least approximately 38% could possibly mean would be 37.5% that can round up to it. He worded his title differently than how he wants this thread to go.

We can see that skill in his late clock bailout shots... He doesn't think at all, gets the ball and swishes some incredibly fades with great Body control in mid-air... We've all seen them. Just some sick shots, clock down, doesn't think about it and just nails them.

Lebron's form is not perfect here at all - look at his elbow sticking out - truthfully, he shoots like a big man, with elbow out and the release point above and almost behind his head.
There is nothing wrong with shooting like a big man - there are a lot of great shooters that shot that way - Bird, McaDoo... Lebron..... Bird & McAdoo were actually better shooters than Lebron, but their 3-point percentages are worse, suppressed due to era.
But these players are different from players that shoot like guards with the elbow-in and the release point slightly elevated in front of their face - these guys have perfect form straight out of a book - Allen, Curry... Jordan (who's numbers were suppressed due to era, just like Bird's).

Re: Top 5 Perimeter players that shot ~38% or better from 3PT?
This is as intriguing as creating a thread about the top 5 perimeter players who shot 79+% from FT line in any given regular season of their career and asking who else after listing MJ, Magic, Bird & Kobe.
Yeah let's add potential names such as Robertson, Logo, Dr. J, Isiah, TMac, Iverson, Wade, list go on and on. What does it really establish? Nothing.
