Alec Burks led his squad with seven points, hitting a 3-pointer and a pair of free throws along the way. Burks and his jumper have earned some rave reviews in training camp, and if he can improve on his 35 percent 3-point shooting from a season ago, he could be in line for a breakout year.

I'd expect improvement from outside. He just needs to hit it enough to open up the rest of his game. Like Kanter they don't need him living out there.

Exum played extensive minutes, logging 29:05 of game time. He scored all of his four points early on and finished with three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Overall, it was a nice NBA primer for the Australian youngster.

If he doesn't step it up he should start in the D-League.

Rodney Hood did not play, as he sat with a right hip flexor strain.

Utah ties: Former Weber State guard Damian Lillard had a decent game when he was on the floor, finishing with nine points, an assist and a steal. With it being a preseason game, though, Lillard played just under 20 minutes and he hit just 4-of-11 shots. Former Jazzman Wesley Matthews added six points and four rebounds. Another former Jazzman, Diante Garrett, entered the game in the fourth quarter and missed his only field goal attempt.

Up next: The Jazz and Trail Blazers match up again on Thursday at the Moda Center in Portland. Game time is 8 p.m. MDT.
