Chis Bosh or Bobby Jones

Who do you think is better? I ask because Bosh is going to down ranked higher and may get into the Hall, but Bobby was a beastly defender and a really good offensive spark for the limited minutes he typically got.

Different roles but I would rather have Bobby.

As 1st or 2nd option Bosh is better (Esp 1st option, way better).

As complementary piece Bobby is better.

Well, consider who Jones had as teammates vs who Bosh had as a first option.

Jones peak early on was something like:

15/8/3/2/2 on 57% in 32 minutes with two teammates averaging 25 ppg.

Bosh on Miami is around:

18/8/2/1/1 on 50% for 35 minutes or close to that.

As a 1st option I'd pick Bosh, otherwise I'd pick Bobby.

Plenty of people don't know much about Bobby Jones now, but he was a player capable of around 14 PPG while at the top in FG% due to his height/athleticism combined with great finishing ability and a really good close game, plus the ability to pick his shots well; he played DPOY-level defense (he would've won it in 1977, if the award was already given) on and off the ball, plus he could guard various positions; he was also a good rebounder and capable passer.

Bobby is easily one of the greatest role players ever and that guy you want on your team when you already have your 1st and 2nd options.
He even went on to become one of the best 6th man ever (when Philly needed floor spacing for the starting 5 and a big spark off the bench) and like they used to say, it was one of those rare occasions where a team got considerably better by a bench player subbing in.

Yea but don't forget that Bobby was playing DPOY-level defense, all-around, versatile defense, and was most likely the best defender of the year on that year (1977).

I prefer Bobby Jones myself. I love what he brings to a team. But I get that he wasn't a #1 option, and Bosh can be that. So you wouldn't draft Bobby to start your franchise, but you would pick him over Bosh if you already had some pieces. That's what I'm getting out of this thread.

Quite the opposite. You should draft Jones to start your franchise if you had the choice between the two. Finding a 1st option like Bosh is easier than finding a complementary piece like Jones.

If you already had some pieces then the choice depends on whether you need a 1st/2nd option or a complementary piece.
